Definition:
Any art or process (way of doing or making things), machine, manufacture, design, or composition of matter, or any new and useful improvement thereof, or any variety of plant, which is or may be patentable under the patent laws of the United States.

Novelty

Definition:
"One of the three conditions that an invention must meet in order to be patentable. Novelty is present if every element of the claimed invention is not disclosed in a single piece of prior art."

IFW

Definition:
Image File Wrapper -- an electronic version of a patent application, including image and/or text versions of the bibliographic information, all papers as filed, and all office actions and correspondence related to that application.

Community Trade Mark

Definition:
A trademark registration granted by the European Community Trademark Office and enforceable throughout EC member nations.

Infringement

Definition:
An invasion of one of the exclusive rights of intellectual property. Infringement of a utility patent involves the making, using, selling, offering to sell, or importing of a patented product or process without permission.

Definition:
